Engine Performance and Smooth Handling

Under the hood, the 2023 Malibu is powered by an efficient ECOTEC 1.5L I-4 direct injection, DOHC, VVT variable valve control, intercooled turbo engine with 160HP. Paired with a seamless Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and Front Wheel Drive, this powertrain yields an impressive EPA-estimated 27 MPG city and 35 MPG highway. The engineering design features an independent strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension to absorb road imperfections while maintaining crisp steering response. Active grille shutters dynamically adjust to optimize airflow and lower aerodynamic drag at higher speeds. Stopping power is handled by robust 4-wheel disc brakes with four-channel ABS, while the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system and all-speed traction control help maintain stability across varying road surfaces. Rolling on 16-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in all-season tires, this sedan balances efficiency with confident composure.
